Hi...
I try to shut down any unused ports in our lan switches. Is there any tool that can give details about the last time the port has been used, so that I do not shut a port for a person who might be on leave, etc.
Thanks

If you have Campus Manager 4.0 which is part of Lan Management Solution 2.5, it provides such a utility (in Device Center)

Unfortunately I only have SNMS 1.0. Any other suggestions or how to go about this issue manually?
Thanks

While not the best option, you could do a show port/show interface (CatOS/CatIOS) on each port/interface. If no traffic stats are shown on the port since the last switch reset/reboot, then perhaps that port is not in use. Of course if your switch rebooted recently, this might not be valid.
You always have the option of shutting down all ports that are disconnected, then waiting for the phone calls from irate users. :-)
