I am having trouble using the "&" character in passwords for devices on the RME server. Telnet itself works fine, but when I change the device attribute for the telnet password in RME, the check result reports INCORRECT.
I have exported the inventory to a CSV file and saw that RME adds a "\" in front of the "&" character. So the password now reads ****\&***.
Other characters like !@$ seem to work fine.
Does anybody has seen this behavior before or knows how to work around this problem.
I am using RME 3.5 with IDU 12.0 on a W2K server.
TIA

there is a bug in CW.. I had a similar problem with Ciscoview (while exporting devices from RME) due to the use of such special characters. Contact TAC and ask them for a fix. Note: they do not have the "&" char in their "do not use" special characters anywhere in their documentation... so go after them and ask them to fix it.

Some of the special characters cannot be used in passwords. That is the reason you run into problems when you use them in passwords. This is a limitation on the RME. So the workaround for your problem is to replace all the passwords with "&" character with some other password.

Thank you for your reply. For a moment I thought I was the only one with this problem.
I will contact TAC as you mentioned.
