Problem with console connection

Hi, I currently have a problem with my console cable connection to switches.

I've tried different switches and different cables and different software and it does the same on all of them.

I'm using MobaTerm and Putty and I connect up fine but then when I type something like conf t, I'll get half way through typing and then it hangs and then types lots of characters like this:

connnnnnnnnnnnnnnffffff t

The settings are:

8 Data Bits

1 Stop Bits

None Parity

None Flow Control

The same thing happens when pressing enter as well, it will suddently hit enter lots of times:

Switch(config)#
Switch(config)#

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hello,

if this happens on all switches, the issue is likely with the device you are initiating the connection from. What do you use, a laptop, PC ?

I use a laptop and it's fine on that but when I'm docked at my desk my external keyboard seems to do it. Drivers for the keyboard maybe?

this is error on your keyboard driver or keyboard. check with different PC/Laptop. if the issue is solved, try updating your keyboard drivers/OS, etc.

Please rate this and mark as solution/answer, if this resolved your issue
Good luck

Hi, thanks for the reply. I use a laptop and it's fine on that but when I'm docked at my desk my external keyboard seems to do it. Drivers for the keyboard then?
