It appears /opt/CSCOpx/bin/backup.pl makes the new back-up FIRST, then deletes the oldest copy of the backups. Granted I'm a little tight on disk space, but it seems if the script behaves the other way around, my existing disk space would have been sufficicent for the desired 5 backups instead of the current 4. Is this something Cisco would take a PERS on?

This would be very bad if the backup fails. I would be very hesitant to implement such a feature. Disk space is "cheap;" losing all your data is not.

How about making it a user-configurable option, at least for when saving more than one backup?

I still find such an option scary, but as long as it's non-default, I think a PERS request would be entertained.
