Sh Brand name of SFPs

I know I can run the sh inv to view the SFPs model and Serial Numbers attached on a Cisco Switch.

Is there a way to verify the brand name of each SFP? I am trying to verify which installed SFPs are Genuine Cisco and which are not.

I have Cisco 9300 and 9606 switches.

Use the following command:

sh idprom interface <PORT>

The first three characters of the serial number is also a giveaway:

  • AVG:  Avago (now Broadcom)
  • FNS:  Finisar

I tried to input some of the serial numbers for Cisco SFPs, but it didn't pull anything up. I even tried entering some serial numbers of actual Cisco switches and all I get back is "Product ID: Unavailable".

just checked one of the device in hand works as expected below :

I tried adding the Serial from your example and got the following:

The only difference from the Serial numbers from our equipment is that the Warranty status shows as unavailable.

Do you picture of the SFP and if so post here - if that is not recognized then it may be not cisco (i am in guess)

Basically, Modules will be covered with the Switch/Router chassis Serial number, you have to check that chassis serial number and raise a case to get the RMA for that.
