Have you validated the image on your tftp server? (i.e. check the MD5 checksum with that posted on CCO)

If that looks good, I'd try removing the corrupt image from bootflash then copy (via tftp) the validated image into bootflash from rommon. Then boot from bootflash.

As what Marvin said, your IOS is corrupt.

After you have downloaded the file from the Cisco website, compare that file's MD5 hash value against the value in the Cisco website.  If it doesn't match, then it's corrupted.

i have compared the checksum of the image on my tftp with cisco cco and they match, and the copying of the image from the tftp to DRAM is ok as evident from previus output but i think when it reloads it loads the old image which is still on the bootflash instead of the one from tftp. is there a way to delete the image on bootflash and copy the image directly to the bootflash (without erassing my other files i.e startup-config,...).

Hi,

I found a similar discussion, apparently the solution was to format bootflash: and doing the procedure again.

It's worth a try, I think.

Hope that helps

Hi can any one assist on this, last comment about erassing bootflash dosn't work. The image is on bootflash,in rommon there is no command for format. is there any way to update the stuck engine with a different ios and then bring it to synch after with the active one.

in rommon there is no command for format.

Try:  format bootflash:
