Does enyone know why there is a version 2.3i of CSPM for CSIDS and one for the firewall.
my problem is that i have a network with pix and CSID to administer with CSPM and i don't want to have to stations to do it. how can i install the both version on a single computer, and will the next version will have to both functionnalities?

Have you tried to use something like VM Ware or Linux UML.

Yes, i know that this is possible with vmware or tools like that. But it's not what i want.
I used CSPM 2.2 to setup my PIX and the CSIDS. now if i want new functionnalities for both my PIX and my sensor, i have to have two admin tools.
i wonder why cisco does that and if in the futur it'll have only one version and two version again?

Emmanuel, I am working on the same situation. They split the two functionalities because they were having issues integrating the two. I do not know the specifics. I was told by TAC that they will be bundling them again in one package. Probably late summer/early fall, will probably be ver 3.0

I spoke with one of the engineers at Networkers this week and he advised that they were not going to merge the two versions. I was told by TAC that they would, but he pretty much assured me that they were not. He also recommended running each version on two different machines due to the size of the IDS database. He explained that this could have performance issues if running with the 2.3f version on the same box. I also verified that Cisco will be phasing out the IDS Director software, but I couldn't get a timeframe on that. Hope this helps and we all feel your pain. Good luck!
