FTP Client not connecting to FTP server thru PIX

FTP client request cannot a connect to FTP site. Looks like the FTP client display says connected, but after 45 seconds the client retries to connect. FTP FIXUP 21 is enabled.

FTP site admin says it's passive FTP. We are making the request from inside our network thru a PIX 515e. I can connect to anonymous sites with no problem.

At home I have a 501 and it connects ok. Tried allowing ports higher than 1024 w/ access-list. That knocked out the internet connection.

Not sure what is going on. Any help or suggestions?

Hi Vince,

I remember having a similar problem with previous version of pix (bugus 6.1.x or something like that). When the banner from ftp-site was too long, the session would disconnect.

Also check for too short timeout value's on pix.
