Hi all:

I want to export all the detail information like the IP address, host name and description of the Network Object and Network Object Group from CiscoASA ASDM but cannot find a way from ASDM.

Can somebody suggest any way to export all this information as HTML or Worksheet?

Many thanks!

Best Regards,

tangsuan

Hi Tangsuan,

Unfortunately, there is no such option in ASDM to export to a file but from the ASA cli, you can run the show command as "show run object" and parse out the items of interest in one file.

Rate if it helps.

Thanks,

Ankita

Hi Tang,

Surely, I will relay this as an enhancement request for having this option is ASDM.

For your question, I tried that myself and it has to be done in two steps as you did and directly it is not working so, looks like it is the expected behavior.

Thanks,

Ankita

Hi Ankita:

Many thanks to your reply. I have tried with show run object by using parsing with redirect to a file then copy the file with tftp to external URL. It works.

Many thanks!

One question here is I have tried with redirect straight by show run object and parsing to external URL by tftp but it cannot work. It has to redirect to a local file first then copy by tftp to external URL. I don't know why. This has to be done two steps rather directly to external URL by show run object.

Any comment and recommendation?

Anyway, I have done taken the object and object-group from the way you suggest.

Thanks!

By the way, is Cisco has any plan to improve this by putting the retrieving the object and object group through ASDM? This should be better compare with command line way.

Many thanks again!

Hi Ankita:

Thanks to your reply and hope you do feedback to Cisco on the improvement of adding the Object and Object Group export features in ASDM.

Thanks!

Hi everyone has this been resolved, its now 2024, i would like to think Cisco did its due diligence and implemented this very easy export feature much like in NAT and Access Rules.
