Do 5505's and 5510's use the same type of RAM. What I am wondering is can I take a 1 gb stick out of a 5510 and use it in a 5505? Thanks in advance.

Hello Benjamin,
The ASA5505 supports all up to 512 MB so you cannot use the 1 GB memory on your ASA5505.
Below you can see the table:

Perhaps you should add that 512M is just the supported amount of RAM for the 5505. But if the 1Gig-Module is compatible, then the 5505 will function with that. There are many succsess-stories blogged about using 1Gig-Modules. But probably you won't get any more benefit from 1Gig compared to 512Meg.

After all, it all depends to the specs of the memory DIMM that you use. but it works.
Have a good day.

Hello,
I went through your query and found, they both do not have the same RAM, and you cannot use 1GB of 5510 into 5505 as per cisco ,but still if you want to give it a try. You can go ahead it might work.
