Upgrade path to 5.4.1 then to 6

I am currently on 5.3.1.7 on an ASA Firepower module. Can I upgrade straight to 5.4.1.8 and then go to 6? Do I need to go to 5.4.0 first?

I cannot find an easy upgrade path explanation in the release notes.

Thanks,

Bryan

Hello Krishna

Upgrade process is

Very steady you have to incremental upgrade including patches for both are and sensor .

If you don't have enough policy bank then you can do fresh installation which is best as per me .

Let me know if you need more information .

Thanks

Sujeet

Hey Marvin , Hope you doing nice

Please suggest me here , I have FMC and SFR module and both show 5.4 . I am planning to upgrade them . I have downloaded 6.0 package . Uploaded and executed in FMC and it is not 6.0.0 . But still my module showing 5.4 . Do I need to image my module with 6.0 or FMC can push something .

I am really confuse with this upgrdation  ,Not able to find any thing . Please suggest sir

You upgrade FMC and the module separately. The images are completely different and found in the respective downloads section for the product.

Once you have your FMC to version 6.0+, you can then upgrade the managed devices similarly. You will need to upload the file for your device to the FMC and then deploy the upgrade from there.

The recommended version to get to right now would be 6.2.0.1. You will need to first get both FMC and managed devices to 6.1. Then upgrade FMC to 6.2 and finally the devices to 6.2 (and apply latest patch to get to 6.2.0.1).

Mr Rhoads

You are superb , Thanks so much

Unfortunately there is no easy way to upgrade from 5.3.1.7 to 6.0.x. IMO You should re-image using 6.1 in case your configuration is not that large. Otherwise you will have to follow the following upgrade path:

5.3.1.7 -> 5.4 (install pre-install package before upgrade to 5.4.0)

5.4     -> 5.4.1.8

5.4.1.8 -> 6.0.0 (install pre-install package before upgrade to 6.0.0)

6.0.0   -> 6.0.1 (install pre-install package before upgrade to 6.0.1)

6.0.1   -> 6.0.1.2

Read the release notes carefully for changes to make sure you can indeed upgrade without any issues.
