Getting the below error while upgrading from lower version to higher version.

admin@ncs# config
Entering configuration mode terminal
admin@ncs(config)# devices migrate old-ned-id cisco-staros-cli-5.37 new-ned-id cisco-staros-cli-5.40
migrate-result {
device staros_device
result false
info Failed to connect to device staros_device: connection refused: Failed to connect: SSH authentication failed
}

Please help me with the solution.

If I try to use quotes around the password as one of the solution will the authentication system for the server will work.

if not then what will be the correct method to proceed upon.

Hello,

Which NSO version are you using?

Can you try to login into the device using the command ssh from Linux shell in order to be able to find the root cause if it’s an issue related to NSO or the device .

The migration failed so you are still using the old NED . Are you able to do a connect using the old NED?
