ASR1001-X with GLC-LH-SMD not coming up

Hi all, Strange problem i have a ASR1001-X with GLC-LH-SMD not coming up, the GLC-LH-SMD are seen by the ASR but the link stays down

but with GLC-SX-MM's installed the link comes up and is fine

i have tested the LH's in other devices and they are fine anyone had this problem?

about the only thing that I can think of would be, on the ASR interface, try

no negotiation auto

 

if you haven't already, and see what happens.

 

I don't have a lot of instances to compare to, but on each of my ASR1ks, that have a fiber SFP, they are all set to no negotiate auto. I wouldn't necessarily think that would matter but maybe there is some nuance with optical vs RJ SFPs.

1. is that port not come up or going to error disabled mode.

2. are you using Single mode cable or multimode ?

3. what is remove end SFP ?

 

try adjusting speeds or no speed nogiations ? is this usefull ?

The bug is not what im experiencing

 

I noticed the media type is unknown but after poking around, Cisco say this is cosmetic

when you say multimode cable, do you mean just a jumper to another device, or do you mean multimode to an LIU (IE-fiber up a riser, or to a different location/building)?

 

as far as I recall, with the LH optics, using multimode fiber, you would need a modal conditioning jumper. I believe that is noted in the SFP spec sheet. Or, at least it used to be.

 

It's just a jumper cable, but the LH's and the same cable work when I connected to switches together which makes me think I'm missing something 

ok, fair enough. what does your interface configs look like, on both sides? seems more of a link layer problem than physical layer

This is what i have suggested other post the check the negotiation and speed, any way  coming back to post down at Switch side.

 

it is Layer 2 port ( make it either Layer 3 port)
