As long as all switches are using the same version of Spanning Tree Protocol, you will not need to worry about a Layer 2 loop since the protocol will automatically take care of that for you. I would just make sure that every interface connecting to another switch is configured as a trunk. They should all be configured the same. If a link gets unplugged, Spanning Tree Protocol will engage and allow the traffic to traverse the network using the redundant link.

Besides STP (or MST), Cisco had (had) a proprietary solution Flex Links , but I would agree with Tyson use a STP variant (also I recommend using a "rapid" STP variant).

Another L2 solution would be Cisco's Resilient Ethernet Protocol (REP)
