configure 10 gigabit interface Cisco 4506 Sup 7-E

Hello all,

I have 2 Cisco 4506 with Sup 7-E cards and I want to connect them with the 10 Gig fiber ports. I have the 2 10 Gig SFP's in them and configured the interfaces on both sides as just trunk ports

interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1
switchport mode trunk

The link does not come up but if I do a sh interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1 transceiver details i see normal light levels so light is passing but the interface does not come up.

Is there some special commands you have to do for a 10Gig interface? I am using the 10Gig interfaces on the Sup 7-E card.

Thanks,

Chris

What is the distance of these device ? what mode of Fibre cable you using.

can you post

show run configuration

show run interface ten 1/1

show interface ten 1/1

show interface ten 1/1 capabilities

show inventory.

Sorry for taking so long to get back.

The two buildings are under 200 meters away. It is multimode fiber.

I dont think a whole show run is needed but here is the rest for both Cisco 4506 switches.

Keep in mind right now there is no cable connecting them.

Attached is the info for each switch

Thanks,
Chris

Yeah so the problem is that the two locations are over the max distance. I got it to work between two buildings that are closer but the main one I really need is like 300m and I found that 62.5/125 µm Multimode Fiber can only do 10Gigabit up to like 33 meters
