ONS 5.0 Software

Hi

Does anyone know when they will release ONS 15454 5.0 software. There are a lot off issues solved in version 5.0 but i can't find when release 5.0 will be available.

If you provision a non-existent static route to a node's subnet and then delete it, the node will lose connectivity. If this occurs, remove and replace the Ethernet cable. This issue will be resolved in Release 5.0.

In some instances, you might not be able to unlock a cross-connect from both CTC and TL1. After locking the cross-connects, if you quickly click the SWITCH button, the unlock command might fail. This issue is resolved in Release 5.0.

Release 5.0 is currently scheduled for December '04. We will see if that date is met. The good thing is all the releases between 15454 MSPP, MSTP, 15600 and CTM all converge.

Since 4.7 was just released, 5.0 will most likely not meet the target deadline of 12/04. A beta version may be ready, but FCS will most likely happen in 02.05. If you are having issues with the 4.6.0 code, you may look to see if 4.7 will resolve some of them.

Cisco ONS 15454 Release 4.7 supports only the DWDM feature set (MSTP). It should not be used if the application requires a cross-connect card.
