7970 display attributes - speed dials create blue bar accross screen

We are testing a few 7970's and created a nice background with our logo in it. When we add speed dials or additional line appearances it adds a blue/grey bar across the display and messes up the look of the logo. is there any way to alter the fonts/text/display attributes?
