Bearer Capability issue on 2600

Hi all,

I am expericing problem with the cisco 2600, which should function as the sip2pstn gateway. If I try to complete a call from a sip phone to pstn, the router says:

Please notice the line "Bearer Capability i = 0x8090A2", the digits "80" mean that this is a ITU voice call, "90" mean circuit mode, 64 kbps and "A2" is for G.711 u-law.

So if I call the router from a normal telephone, the debugging looks as follows:

whereat the bearer capability is "0x8090A3". It means that the ISDN-switch of German Telekom uses G.711 a-law.

I am afraid that is the reason why the sip-call doesn't go through. But I can't find any way to configure this.

Has anybody in this mailinglist the same experience?

Any hints would be very appreciated.

a few times alreadty i have seen disconnects with the reason "bearer cap not implemented", and it took just a codec change on either sides to resolve the problem. but assuming yoru issue drills down to layer 1 protocols (u-law vs a-law), i will point you to the translation profile/rule in global config mode. i have come across sub-commands down there that allow you to manipulate some of these parameters, but i haven't investigated deep enough to confirm whether these commands satisfy your request. nevertheless it is a start.

On a side note, my company does have a softswitch that allows you to manipulate all these parameters over IP before the call reaches the destination. if you are intersted, send me a mail and i will give you more info.

First need to know that country where this 2600 is located in to. Based on that we can see the standards of a-law or u-law.

Now when the call go out from 2600 (sip-2-pstn) over pri line, was disconnected by PSTN with bearercap 8090A2 issue.

But does the incoming call (pstn-2-sip) in to gateway 2600 over pri line with bearer cap 8090A3 works fine?

You can use "compand-type a-law" (or u-law) under the voice-port config if you want to change the compand-type
