Cable for ISDN BRI(RJ48 or RJ45?)

Hi there,

I am trying to connect ISDN BRI port of VIC2-2BRI-NT/TE in 2811 ISR(configured as TE) with ISDN DSU TE port provided by a service provider. I use RJ45 straight cable to connect both.

However, I found in "Quick Start Guide" in section 6 "Cabling for Cisco Interface Cards" sent with this VIC that RJ48C straight cable is required for VIC2-BRI-NT/TE.

A same table is in

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps2641/products_quick_start09186a00800a853d.html#wp39800

On the other hand, the following Cisco web page show RJ45 is required for VIC2-BRI-NT/TE.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps2641/products_installation_guide_chapter09186a008007cb4c.html#wp1032902

I think RJ48C pin-out is diffrent from RJ45 and RJ48C is for PRI.

Are there anyone to know which is correct for ISDN BRI TE port of VIC2-BRI-NT/TE?

Thank you,

If a standard RJ45 straight cable is not working for you then try to crossover pin 3 with 4 and 5 with 6.

See table 7-2 in the following doc for details:
