Call forward on 7841 is not working

we just installed new 7841 phones and one will not call fwd. When using the soft key and entering a number it gives a dial tone and asks to check the directory?

Always mention what products you use, and version, and not just your problem or what you want. 

What is the call control for this? And what troubleshooting have you done? 

By the "check your directory" message, I'd assume it's CUCM, in which case you need to fix your call forwarding CSS to allow the call.

Check what is your DN's CSS for that phone.  Is it same as other phones ?  Are you using correct route pattern ?  Use CUCM's DNA to check if you can dial out the call forward number successfully using that DN.
