There are 2 phones both 7960s: A and B. Phone A has a primary DN of 1300 and secondary line of 1301. Phone B has a primary line of 1301, secondary line of 1300. When I dial the main number, the call goes to the Unity call handler, I enter the extension 1300. Phone A doesn't ring or do anything to indicate a call coming in. But, phone B does blink. If I call the main number and enter extension 1301, both phones ring. Plus, you can make calls out from phone A. Everything was working until 3 weeks ago. The traces show the call going to line instance 2 (phone B) but there is nothing for line instance one (phone A). Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi
This is normal - if 1300 is in one partition on one phone and another partition on the other phone it isn't a shared line. They are two seperate lines. They only become shared if they are same DN, same partition.
You will probably find that if you check your CSS on the VM port that 1300 on phone B's partition is higher on the CSS than the partition that 1300 on Phone A is. The CSS basically breaks the tie between the two lines - higher in the list will ring first if available.
Hope this clears it up for you...

Might be a silly question but can you confirm both DNs are in the same partition?
When you view the phones in ccmadmin do you see 'shared line' in red next to the DN entry box?

The two lines on phone A are in the same partition. The second line, 1301, says shared.
The primary line on phone B, 1301, is in the same partition as the lines on phone A and says shared. The secondary line on phone B, 1300, is in another partition. Shouldn't they both say shared? Thanks.

The extension 1300 is a shared line or is 1300 in a different partition?
Verify VM ports partitions and IP Phone A DN 1300 partition.

1300 is supposed to be a shared line. How should it normally work? Phone A line 1 (1300) in the same partition as phone B line 2 (1300)? Or is it phone A line 1 (1300) and line 2 (1301) in the same partition?

That was it! The partition of 1300 on phone A was in a lower order in the CSS than 1300 on phone B. They are both in the same partition and are shared lines now, and they both ring. Thanks for the help.
