Hi

I have a couple of questions regarding Cisco callmanager software and hardware for this purpose.

1- Can we buy HP or another hardware platform server with the exact config recommended by cisco from HP and then install call manager on that platform. Does this work.

2- If we buy both call manager and the hardware from cisco how is the OS (2000) provided by cisco. is this OS pre installed on the hardware or is bundled with callmanager. Is this OS a general server edition provided by microsoft.?

Thanks

Hi

1 - You can indeed. See this list for the servers that are supported by Cisco:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/voiceapp/ps378/prod_brochure09186a0080107d79.html

2 - When you buy CallManager it comes with a massive set of CDs - the first of these determines what hardware you have on the list above, and installs a custom image of Windows 2000 to suit. It has a specific set of software but it's not really that special, you can install the CallManager package on any Windows installation with a little knowhow - however for a proper installation you wan to use Cisco's version to maintain your support.
