Has anyone done this? Can someone tell me the details on how to do this. Is there a special load for the ata?

1. Copy ATA firmware to flash ATA030100SCCP040211A.zup

2. Add the following to the global config

tftp-server flash:ATA030100SCCP040211A.zup

telephony-service

load ATA ATA030100SCCP040211A

create cnf-files

3. Create two ephone-dns for the two ports.

e.g

ephone-dn 1

number 1234

descr Fax1

!

ephone-dn 2

number 1235

descr Fax2

4.Create two ephones. e.g. If the ATA MAC address is 0015.FFFF.FFFF, Port 2 will be 15FF.FFFF.FF01.

ephone 1

mac-address 0015.FFFF.FFFF

type ata

button 1:1

!

ephone 2

mac-address 15FF.FFFF.FF01

type ata

button 1:2

Thanks, I was under the impression that this would only work with analog phones and not fax machines and you had to define the ata as an h323 device.

Yes, load the H323 image instead of skinny image and configure dial-peers to the ATA on the CME router.

How does one load the h323 image? Also, I have some documents on configuring fax detection method and fax mode method where you change various bit settings. Any recommendation?

I have a couple of faxes in production connected ATAs using the SCCP image . Why do you need to load the h323 image?

but, what special configuration did you do to the ATA to work with SCCP and support FAX?. I did a single line ephone but it didn't work with FAX.

Cristian,

No special configuration is required. The default ATA image should work out of the box. If you've changed the the image to h323 just change it back to the default SCCP Image.

(append 01 to the mac address to configure the second port)

One more thing, if you configured dial-peers for the ATAs, remove them. The SCCP image doesn't need them.
