Hi,
Any one out there has already configured a SIP softphone to work with CCM5.0?
I have downloaded several SIP softphones (win/Linux) but I can not make them work on CCM5.0.
I have some Cisco phones (7940/7960) converted to SIP and they work perfectly.
Is SIP softphone supported on CCM5.0 or only Hard SIP phones?
Thanks,

Hi
In callmanager administration ,
1. add an end usre , Username should be the extension u want to give to your softphone
2. add A 3rd party SIP Phone (basic ) in cisco callmanager whit following configuration
a.MAC Address (Any MAC Address you want)
b.owner User ID ( Select the username u have created in user managment )
c.Digest User ( Select the username u have created in uset managment )
d. For SIP Security profile Choose Standard NON-Secured Profile
e. Give the line on an extension same as ur User ID
In Eyebeam Configuration
1.put callmanager user in user section followed by password
2. authorization User is your callmanager user again
3.domain : CallManager IP Address
4. In Domain Proxy section Check the checkbox ( register with domain and recieve incoming calls )
5.send outbound via ( Target Domain )
In some cases U need to configure the STUN server to compelet the registration with cisco call manager in this case go to topology tap and use one of these public stun servers
1. Stun.xten.net
2.stun.ekiga.net
or your own stun Server

SIP is SIP I guess - as long as something is RFC 3261 compliant it should work fine... CallManger needn't know whether it's a softphone or not...
Which phones have you tried?

Hi Jan,
Are you able to capture some ethereal trace?
From here, you will be able to see where the communication breaks. I suspect the SIP client don't even manage to register.
Thanks

Hi Jan,
Looks like to the server forbid you to regsuter for some reason.
I am assuming other configurations is correct.
Let do some testing here.
Uncheck 'Enable Digest Authentication', launch yout x-lite again. Capture the ethereal again.
Also capture all diagnostic log from your x-lite.
I would like to determine if the server allow you to registre without authentication in the first place. We will deal with this issue later.
BTW, which release of ccm 5 are you using?
Thanks

Hi Jan,
I looks like the CCM 5 enforce the authentication, thus you must enable it.
Assuming that you haven't done so, there 2 things that you must check.
1. The License
The CCM 5.0 enforced the license unit of client. Pls make sure that you have the license of at least 3 units for each 3rd-party SIP client.
2. Pls follow instruction on the CCM 5.0 Admin Guide under Configuring Non-Cisco SIP Phones chapter.
It shows that you must enter the MAC address where you load the X-lite.
Please give it try and let me know the result.
Thanks

Did you ever get this working? I was wondering what settings you put in X-Lite's configuration dialog.

Hello Jan,
did you set Digest Credentials in End User configuration?
Don't forget to reset the phone when you change End User config.
I'm successfuly using EyeBeam from Counterpath with CCM5.0
