CCM and Avaya Definity using T1-QSIG

Hi.

Sorry for the long post.

I found a whitepaper in CCO with an example configuration of a T1-QSIG integration using MGCP and CCM 4.1 with Avaya Definity PBX. Most of the features are working back and forth (i.e. transfer, conference, etc). One thing is that I get caller id fine on both systems but without the Name. Is there a configuration change in order for the number and name to appear on the caller id on Avaya Phones as well as Cisco Phones?

Also the customer is using an Avaya Audix system for giving VM to avaya phones and they would like to use it to give VM to Cisco Phones in the mean time. Can i use the same T1-QSIG between both PBX in order to pass MWI information and everyting related to VoiceMail or do I need to connect the Audix system directly to the CCM using analog and/or digital lines.

Thanks in advanced,

-JJ

Try using the Carrier to send facility to get the caller name and ID on the phones.

Hi JJ,

On your AVAYA PBX you need to change the COR templtes for the phones to allow Caller Name.

The second answer will be you can use the same T1 QSIG tie between PBX and CM for the Voicemail callpath as well as MWI.

Arijit,

Thanks for your quick response. So it doesn't matter that the Audix System is connected to the Avaya PBX using analog lines (i.e. 8 ports). Can I still use the QSIG T1 connection between the CCM and the Avaya Definity to provide VoiceMail callpath and MWI from the Audix all the way to the Cisco IP PHones?

I will get in touch with the person working the Avaya PBX in order to get caller Name to work on both ways. Is there something else to be done on the CCM to get Caller Name to work?

Thanks in advanced,

JJ,

So you have analog integration between PBX and the Audix. That should be fine as far as CallPatha nd MWI is concerned but the only thins you should worry about is the capacity. 8 Analog links is not enough for supporting all these.(taking into account now the system will now be using one of those links to set and unset the MWIs).

Also we have the name Caller Name problem with our G3R and our AVAYA guys re-configured the COR templated on AVAYA side to make it work.

There shouldnt be any thing on the CCM side other than

Calling Party Presentation should Allowed

Calling Party Selection should Originator

Called party IE number type should Cisco CallManager

Calling party IE number type should Cisco CallManager

Called Numbering Plan should be ISDN

Calling Numbering Plan should be ISDN

Let me know if it works.

Arijit

Arijit,

Thanks for the info. Do you have a screenshot of the COR template that they modified. I haven't talk to the Avaya Engineers in order to do the changed but I would like to have at least a screenshot in case they get lost looking for the right parameter. Can you send me the screenshot to embeleco@gmail.com ??

Thanks in advanced,

Arijit,

I double check the CCM config and I make sure all settings are as you said. Without doing anything on the Avaya side I can see the Caller Name in the incoming setup message to CCM from the Avaya Side. Here is the seup message of the CCM Trace:

SETUP pd = 8 callref = 0x5117

Sending Complete

Bearer Capability i = 0x9090A2

Channel ID i = 0xA18396

Progress Ind i = 0x8183 - Origination address is non-ISDN

Calling Party Number i = 0xA1, '2448'

Called Party Number i = 0xA1, '2801'

Locking Shift to CodeSet 6

Codeset 6 IE 0x28 i = 'Velez, Yamilett'

-----

2448 is an Avaya Phone and 2801 is a Cisco IP Phone and the Name is the one in the Avaya Phone.

Below is the setup when calling the other way around:

SETUP pd = 8 callref = 0x003D

Sending Complete

Bearer Capability i = 0x8090A2

Channel ID i = 0xA98397

Facility i = 0x9FAA06800100820100A116020101020100800E47756E7468657220436F73746173

Calling Party Number i = ')', 0x81, '2801'

Called Party Number i = 0xA9, '2448'

----

Here I don't see the Name as easy as on the other setup. So I don't know if the CCM is sending the Name. Unless the IOS translation format of the CCM trace would not translate the IE Facility.

Thanks in advanced,

JJ,

How many hops od QSIG trunks you have between AVAYA and CCM.

Also what version of CCM it is.

If i understand the problem correctly calls from AVAYA phones to the CCM phones are working correctly with Caller Name. Its not working the other way round. Right.

Arijit

Arijit,

Is not working on either way. I'm using CCM 4.1(2)

IP Phone --- CCM ---3725----T1---AVAYA----Phone

The weird thing is that on the debug on the router I can see the Name of the Avaya Phone on the setup call and also the CCM is sending the Name of the IP Phone on the IE Facility. Probably is a mis-configuration but I'm not sure if it is on the CCM and/or AVAYA PBX.

JJ,

I dont knwo whether you have this or not but please check this out

http://www.cisco.com/application/pdf/en/us/guest/products/ps5820/c1072/ccmigration_09186a008039073d.pdf

Also I guess the 3725 is configured as a MGCP gateway right.

Yes, the 3725 is configured as MGCP gateway. Actually I'm using that whitepaper. And on the CCM and MGCP gateway everything is configured as the whitepaper suggest except the Called and Calling Party IE number type unknown and the Called and Calling Numbering Plan on the CCM gateway config that I have it configured as Cisco CallManager and ISDN respectively.

Also the Avaya Engineers configured their PBX following the same whitepaper. Not sure if they applied all parameters. Can you send me your email so we can talk about this offline?

AS you can see on my CCM trace post I don't know why CCM received the Caller Name and the Q931 decoder on CCM decodes the name but it doesn't display the name on the phone display. Also when CCM send a setup call to the Avaya PBX I can't see the caller name on the Q931 decoder but it is in the IE facility.

Again thanks for all your help. Probably I need to open a TAC case just to make sure that everything on the CCM is ok.
