Change ATA 186 MAC address?

I was updating the firmware on an ATA 186 when the power dropped, which rendered it comatose. I copyied the eeprom over from a working unit and it now works fine, except it also adopted the mac address of the other ata. Is there an easy way to change the mac address back to what it should be?

I tried a search/replace of the mac address in the eeprom. The mac was listed in 4 places and trying to change it causes the ATA to set it's mac to 00:01:02:03:04:05 and it refuses to talk on the network.
