Hi,
I have installed AutoAttendant in Call Manager 3.3 release. I have two regions one is default and the other is remote. I am using G 711 Codec for Default as well as remote region. But for the inter-region calls i am using G 729. When i call the Auto Attendant number from Default region i am able to get the welcome greeting from the Auto Attendant.
But when i am dialing from the remote region i am getting a busy signal.
Can some one help me out on this
Thanks in advance

Hi,
You need the transcoder to convert the codec format from g729 to g711. may be you use for vg200 or E1 dsp resource to do the transcoding function

Auto Attendant is based on IP-IVR which only supports G.711 calls. If you are using G.729 then you need a transcoder to convert the call to G.711 first before AA.
A bit poor on Cisco as they've shipped this for over 2 years now and not fixed it (it really should work as G.729) especially as Unity supports g.729 out the box now. I guess it's because it's only a freebie and they'd like you to buy more hardware to get it to do everything you want.

Hi Paul,
I was trying to do the exact thing you mentioned in this post.
1.Is the transcoder a separate hardware or can we install it as a software in the CCM itself?
2.Do you have any document which list a step by step procedure for configuring the transcoder with IVR for a G729 to G711 codec conversion?
thanks,
hemant.

As mentioned in a previous post, you can transcode with hardware - which is definitely the preferred method and you will want to do this at the head-end... that is take G729 to G711. However, as an interim, you can use the software resources on Callmanager.
