Cisco Webex Codec EQ firmware update

paul-doutre

Hello we just purchased a Cisco Webex Codec EQ (part no: CS-CODEC-EQ-K9), it came with version: ce11.14.2.3.e98a3091ff6 (we physically received the unit on May 12)

How do I gain access to the latest software firmware?

or How do I register the device with Cisco to obtain the latest firmware?

thanks

Registering it to Webex Control Hub is the recommended approach if you have Cloud Device Registration entitlement. That is also applicable to MTR-A, if you're going that route; you may hear folks refer to Webex Control Hub and Teams Admin Center as "dual registration." There is a similar, albeit delayed & less frequent, automatic upgrade of RoomOS & MTR-A when registered solely to Teams Admin Center.

If you're operating an entirely on-premises or air gapped environment without cloud dependancies your only option is to download it from Cisco.com Software Download center. That will require a SMARTnet support contract associated to your login.

Thank you for the response.
Yes we are purely on prem using Pexip. We are currently testing the Cisco Webex Codec EQ as a potential replacement to our HP/Poly RealPresence 700 series Codecs. I was hoping the Cisco Codec we bought came with a newer software/firmware on it or very least be able to download the latest firmware available on the purchase date of the new Cisco Codec (the Cisco Codec we received shipped directly form Cisco)

If you do have support coverage for your device you can download the latest firmware version from software.cisco.com and install it via the webUI of the device.

Talk to your Cisco account team then; they may be able to provide it as a one-off as part of your evaluation. Generally speaking though, software upgrades require SMARTnet or cloud-reg.
