CME IP Phone <--> IP Phone g729a

Hello,

Is it possible to setup the CME to notify the IP phone to use g729a when connected to another IP Phone? If so, how?

Using CME 3.0.3 on 2691 with AIM-VOICE-30, IOS 12.2(15)ZJ3.

There are some issues in connecting between CME IP Phone and IP Phone g729a. You may have Voice distortion.

My orginal question is it even possible for CME to enable G729a between IP Phones i.e. Cisco 7960 ? If so, how?

perhaps u should read the earlier reply clearly.

the point is why bother to enable g.729a between iphones using CME when its not properly supported?

Again, my question is "can it be done and if so how?" The CME documentation does not address this configuration, but the post that you recommended that I read "clearly" indicates that someone has either done it, or has replied to my question "off-the-cuff," such as you have, and really does not have the answer. If there are truly "distortion" problems, I'll find out on my own. We can save everyone's time by just answering the original question. It's very easy, if you don't have the answer, don't comment.
