Codec negotiation

Hello, I would like to know if the IOS configured as Media Gateway can negotiate a codec one way and another codec the other way.

For istance:

- use g711a from A--->B

- use g729a from B--->A

Why would you want to do this?

It was actually a question from one of my customer. I think he has in mind a kind of voice application that is taking 2 different paths over the network (thus having different traffic engineering calculations) and the conversation is 80% going from A to B. Would that make sense now ?
