I have an IP phone system that I need connected to a Rauland paging system. I've been told by the installer that I need to supply a central office trunk port.
We have in place Cisco 2621 non XM routers with NM-HDA 4FXS port modules with the 4 port FXO expansion card. I have connected FXO port 1/0/6 to the instercom system and can get a tone that seems to be generated by the paging system. I would expect this tone to be continuous, however it cuts to dead air after about 1 second, and will not accept input into the paging system.
Here's a look at the router config for that port:
voice-port 1/0/6
no echo-cancel enable
!
dial-peer voice 6 pots
application mgcpapp
incoming called-number .
destination-pattern T
direct-inward-dial
port 1/0/6
forward-digits 0
!
I have the route pattern directed at the port and set to discard digits predot.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We are running CCM3.2.3sr3.

Is it working with a regular analog phone? I remember we once used a special box to connect to the
paging system. Not sure if you would need one too.

Yes, the intercom is currently working with the analog phone system. I spoke with the intercom manufacturer. He said there should be no special adapters needed, just a CO port.
When I described this problem to him, he offered that maybe the FXO port needed a certain amount of voltage to stay open. Can anybody confirm this? I've called the port and watched it open, and stay open on the router(show voice port sum).

We use the same Intercom System and have many locations that are working fine. This is what we have done:
Call Manager does the routing and we use *4 as our access code.
The route pattern is *4. and we point to the FXO in the Route List and Route Group that is associated to the Gateway.
In the router pattern we have discard digits predot because even if you have the forward digits 0, the CM is still sending digits, because the H.323 dial peers only work when not connected to CM(SRST mode).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Hope that helps
