Corporate Directory partitioning

Is there an easy way to manipulate which users a phone can access via the "Corporate Directory" search?

I have a situation where one set of users that only want a certain subset of the entire DC directory to be access via searches.

Hoping there might be an easy way to maintain separate databases for each group and could point specific phones to specific database when the corporate directory was selected.

Would this work? Any other thoughts/ideas?

The only way to do this is to use the IP Phone Services SDK at http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/550 and write your own customized corporate directory for the phones.

You could either have a separate URL for each phone that wants something special, or you could even go fancier and identify what users would be involved in the search based on which phone accesses the directory.
