Default message for unassigned numbers

Hi -

We have a dial plan consiting of 5 and 10 digit numbers. Instead of playing reorder to PSTN callers (or internal callers calling an unassigned extension) we would like to have it go to a recording saying "You have reached a non-working number..."

We have CRS and can easily create the message/CTI Route Point but how can we get CM to send calls that dial these unassigned numbers to the message?? We are using CM 3.2.2

Thanks,

-Jaret

CM is perfectly happy to run another translation. It starts the whole searching/matching process over with the resulting digit pattern and CSS set of your first translation pattern, so just place that 5-digit catchall pattern in the partition with the rest of your phones.

Use a less-specific translation pattern spanning your entire dial plan that will "eat up" any call that doesn't match a more specific pattern, like a phone. For instance, if your internal extensions are 50000 through 51299, put in a translation pattern that translates "5[01][0-2]XX" to a destination of your choice, like a CTI route point that goes to a recorded intercept in CRS, or a recorded intercept on a call handler in Unity.

Thanks for the idea but I'm not sure if it would work because we are already translating numbers.

Example, telco sends us 10 digit DNIS and then we run a translation on that to make it a 5 digit number and then plop it in the right partition. So, if I created a translation to take 10 down to 5 and then a 'clean up' translation to capture any 5 digits extensions that are unassigned, i don't believe that will work. Or would CM run multiple translations on the same call?

You can run multiple translations on one call. after a number is translated, teh new number is run through the process again, so if there is another translation that fits, it will run also.

Have you thought of using the Unity auto-attendant to answer the call??
