I noticed that DMM 5.4 is no longer supporting Show and Share. I was just wondering what the Road Map is? Is that coming later, or is Show and Share being phased out? What would be the replacement if we currently use DMM 5.3 and Show and Share?
Thanks!

The two product lines have split. The last release that supported Digital Signs and Show and Share was 5.3.6. DMM 5.4 is for Digital Signage only. 5.3.10 is a SnS only release but still requires a DMM for some of the configuration and authentication. There will be a new release for SnS that won't require a DMM coming some time later this year.
Both products are not being phased out.
Hope this helps.

Bill,
The version of DMM that now comes with the CXS bundle does not support signage (DMPs). The current purchase path if you need SNS & DMPs is to purchase an SNS/DMM combo plus an AppSpace or standalone DMM box.

Thanks, that's very helpful.
If we're looking at ordering a system today (for SnS), it includes DMM 5.3, SnS 5.3, SnS Reports, and an MXE-3500. WIll the DMM component (and hardware) very soon be unnecessary?

In the next SnS release the DMM will not be required but from what I have heard the second server will be. Not sure when the next release will be available but I think it won't be available to late this year.

Thanks. Are you familiar with AppSpace, and how that fits into a Cisco SnS system?

AppSpace is from Nexus On Demand (a Cisco partner) and it is a replacement for 5.4 DMM. It allows you to create and distribute signage content to a number of DMPs and manage those DMPs. The current AppSpace release does not support sending content to the monitors RS 232 port (turn off and on monitors) but a future release later this year will.
It has no integration with SnS.

Interesting. So something seems odd. One reseller is proposing Cisco DMM v5.3, SnS (and reporting, author feature licenses, etc), MXE Bundle, and AppSpace.
Seems like the first components from Cisco would take care of everything, and AppSpace wouldn't be needed?

So AppSpace Enterprise would be an appliance, and the remote sites would use something like an Edge 300 (w/ AppSpace license) connected to the signage?
04-24-2013 12:19 PM
True for the 5.3.6 release that is all you need. For newer releases will require a DMM for SnS and either DMM 5.4 or AppSpace to create/manage the signage content. AppSpace has a better workflow for creating content and supports the new Edge 300. The DMM 5.4 does not support Edge players.
So yes you would have an AppSpace server and the remote sites would have a player like the Edge 300 to manage the monitors displaying signage.

Hi
So can someone confirm if there is now a release of Show and Share that does not require a DMM? I assume this requirement has been removed in either the 5.3.11 or 5.3.12 releases?

The DMM is still a requirement in the latest release. This should be removed about the end of the year.
