Want to confirm something with you guys:

Currently extension mobility ip phone service http link is pinting to publihser. when publisher goes down, EM user won't be able to logon any more. I am planing to use sub. so when pub goes down. sub will still take care of em. if sub goes down, i can go to pub to quickly change the em http link. What do you think?

Thanks

Extension Mobility feature needs access to the Publisher database for login/logout functions. Hence irrespective of whether the http link is pointing to the pub or sub, EM will not function if the Publisher goes down.

Hi My CCM is 3.33. Here is what I quoted from

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/3_3/sys_ad/3_3_3/ccmfeat/fsem.htm#1046337. It doesn't mention it has to be publisher at all.

"When you install Cisco CallManager 3.3(3), Cisco CallManager Extension Mobility automatically gets installed on any server in the Cisco CallManager cluster"

"Step 4 At the Service URL field, enter the IP address of the Cisco CallManager server:

http:///emapp/EMAppServlet?device=

#DEVICENAME#

where IPAddressofCallManager is the IP Address of the Cisco CallManager where Cisco CallManager Extension Mobility is installed."

The publisher has a read-write copy of the database, while the subscribers have read-only copies of the database. Certain features, like EM, require making changes to the database and therefore require that the publisher and the read-write database be up and running.
