We have a 2621 gateway connected with IPWAN and PSTN. The call processing is manged by a remote CallManager. Calls to and from the site work fine both over the PSTN and IPWAN.
Our Problem: When calling an extension over the PSTN, then forwarding that extension to another PSTN number the forwarding process never occurs. However, when I call that extension over the IPWAN the phone can forward to an PSTN number.
Suggestions?
Thanks

It sounds like a CSS issue, check out the gateway CSS/PArtitions, and the phones CSS for call forward, make sure it includes the gateway for the PSTN.
I would also check out the ccm traces to see why the call fails, the trace will give you much information.

The Call Search Space seem okay... The site can dial out the PSTN, accept PSTN calls and when dialing the extension across the IPWAN the calls can be forwarded onto the PSTN.
However when calling from the PSTN and forwarding to the PSTN is the problem.
Thanks

Hi,
I think it's either ios bug or codec mismatch. What is the ios version on your router? Can you doublecheck the codecs configuration?

Thanks,

Steve,
I doubt its an ios bug then. Is it g711alaw or ulaw?
CCM trace of one failing call would be very helpful actually..

Also can you confirm its g711 , as you said its a remote callmanager, so i believe its g729 over the ipwan, do you have the same problem in the central site where your callmanager is located?
thanks,

The Regions are set at G.711.... The central site works fine... I'm thinking the router needs a Dial-Peer statement..
Comments ?

Well,
Lets put it this way.
1.Do you have this problem with forwarding to all pstn numbers or just the mobile phones?
2.What gateway do you have?MGCP/h323
3.What is the interface to pstn?fxo/pri ?
4.Do you have a connection to PBX as well, if yes do you have the same problem with forwarding calls to the pbx?
5.Is call hitting the router at all?
If yes what is the disconnect cause? I.e. if you have a pri link you can see it in debug isdn q931.
If not i would love to see the ccm trace as it might be CSS/partitions issue

Marina,
1. All PSTN numbers at the remote location.. All is fine at the central site.. Remember we can forward PSTN calls that traverse the IPWAN, then to the PSTN.
2. MGCP
3. CAS
4. NO.
5. Yes through the T-1 card.
Thanks..

So we can summarize your problem like that
PSTN( phone1)--Voice Gateway ---LAN1(ip phone A)----IPWAN-----LAN2(ip phone B)-----MGCPVoiceGatewayT1-CAS----PSTN (phone2)
When ip phone B is forwarded to the pstn phone 2 and you place a call to that phone from the pstn phone 1 the call is dropped.
All other combinations like calling this phone from the ip phone A are succesful.
1.Do you have CSS and partitions at all?Can you confirm the VoiceGateway CSS includes the partition your route pattern for pstn acces is assigned to?
2.The question is if the call is dropped on the callmanager or router .MGCP is very tricky to troubleshoot. You can try 'debug mgcp packets' and check the output in the following document if you like
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/788/AVVID/debug_mgcp.html
As i said the best thing to do is looking in the ccm trace for the disconnect reason....
