Hi guys,

I have 2801 router, LOCALLY I have 50 IP phones connected in a LAN, these IP Phones need to call PSTN and vice versa (PSTN should call IP phones) so I need an E1 carried by VWIC (of two ports for future expansion), I'm wondering what VWIC should I choose either:

VWIC-2MFT-G703 OR

VWIC-2MFT-E1 (with v.35 smart cable)

what is the difference between both?

can I use either of them with the same result?

what is the difference between v.35 and G703?

should the E1 be channalized in my above case?

thanks

Please refer to the following document

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_tech_note09186a00800b6e0f.shtml

In short, you will 1 or 2 port E1 without DI.

V.35 does not apply.

do u mean that I should use the one of G703 not V.35?

thanks for ur effort

As I said, you will use VWIC-2MFT-E1

g.703 and V.35 does not apply.

The document explains why and I reccommend you read it in full.

thanks alot for u but I have just one question now: referenced to my mentioned case can I use either:

VWIC-2MFT-E1 or

VWIC-2MFT-G703

are they both aplicable, and what is exactly the difference between these 2 cards?

is it right that the second (VWIC-2MFT-G703) for channelized E1, and the first (VWIC-2MFT-E1) isn't used in case of channelized E1?

since as I know I should order channelized E1 for voice calls to PSTN?

TDM Voice is always channelized.

Pure G.703 is unstructured E1 and does not apply to voice, so you will need chanellized E1 that supports PRI or other signalling.

All this information is in the above document.

Have you read it ?
