Hardware refresh to 4.0

Doing a hardware refresh and currently running 3.2 and need to go to 4.0.

Is there a utility like dbhelper in 4.0 that can be used to export the data from 3 and import into 4 or has the database structure changed from 3 to 4 such that this would not be possible.

Just trying to minimize the time spent doing upgrades and patches as we will be swapping out the hardware for the PUB.

Thanks,

Paul.

Hola,

use the latest copy of BARS http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cmva-3des

to backup the current system, place the backup file on a network share that the new server can get to, do the install on the new server getting up to the latests OS patches, install Call Manager on the new box and answer according for the upgrde questions, point the wizard to the network share where the backup file is and you should be on your way. Currently the only time a DB from an older version of CM can be imported into a newer version is during the install. Check the link below for any caveats related to your your situation.

Hope this helps.

So just to be clear on this;

The documentation states that when upgrading from 3.2(2c) that you have to upgrade to the latest version of 3.2 however the title says "if you are not replacing hardware".

So I'm guessing that you only have to upgrade to the latest version if you are keeping the existing hardware - yes?

Therefore, what you are saying is backup using the latest version of BARS. Install the new server with 4.0(2) fresh and do restore?

Also, is it possible to install 4.0(2) fresh or do you have to do 4.0(1) the go to 4.0(2)?

Sorry for so many questions.....

paul.
