intercom feature in CME

Hi,here is the intercom configured excerpted from doc:

Question: what is the intercom A4004 mean? I tested even if I only have intercom under ephone, it'll go into speaker mode when receive call. So why need A4004 after intercom, meaning only accept call from phone A4004? thanks

The A allows this to be a private intercom dedicated between two devices. You can also use normal numbers to create a dialable intercom, for example if you just used 4004, anyone could dial this as an intercom call. Hope this helps.
