IP phone connected through VPN tunnel but no dial tone

The site to site vpn connection is established between the ASA 5510 and ASA 5505. I can see the traffic going on between the IP phone and its server. However, the phone has no dial tone. I ping the phone's IP address within the tunnel but receive only 80% echo. Does anyone know what goes wrong? Thank you!

It's dropping packets or streaming them out of order, so it sounds like either a routing issue or the version of ASA SW you are running? Check routing of packets by attaching a sniffer on the back of the phone on the other side of the tunnel and do a packet capture to see what's going on?

We found the problem yesterday. It was the VPN

tunnel in which one side was using IP protocol while the other side was using TCP protocol.
