when outlook is open on a client pc that client cannot check voicemail from the phone, unity will say you have a new message but will not play it until outlook is closed, is there a storage option somewhere that needs to be set?

www.midcosystems.com

Having outlook open should have no bearing on Unity getting at your messages at all... all of us here at AV have our Outlook clients open all day long and most of us also use the phone to get at our messages from time to time.
do you mean you have the actual message opened at the desktop somehow and it's still marked new?
There's no configuration options I know of you can fiddle with that would affect this at all.

we tested and proved that when oulook is open on the client showing a new message we cannot check them from the phone unity also does not light message light while outlook is open, client pc's set to use personal folders in outlook. the customer has taken unity out of service due to this. *FYI* you responded in this forum before tech support called me back, and still have'nt.

Personal folders on the client machine? If so, that's the problem.
If the Outlook client is moving the messages off the server and onto the local client hard drive, Unity will not have access to those messages and the lamps wont work. Messages have to be on the server itself for us to get at them.
Same thing happens to folks that move messages to folders other than the Inbox even on the server... we are only monitoring and pulling messages from the inbox on the server itself.
