Moving CM from DC Directory to Active Directory

I have an existing CM platform working with DC Directory. If I want to move to AD, what happens to the existing users and settings ? Do they migrate to AD transparently and merge with existing users ? Is this recommended or do I have to re-install the whole thing again ? I have CM 3.3.4 and AD 2000.

When you go from DC Directory to AD, the existing users will not be migrated. You will have to add them separately in AD.

To migrate to AD or not depends on your requirements. If you are looking for a one stop solution to manage all your users and contacts, then AD would be the ideal choice.

If by any reason, you decide to come back to DC Directory later, then all the users you have added before the you migrated to AD would still be available. The new users that you have added in AD will not be available.

Do you know if I have to re-associate the devices to the users ? For example, if I have a user called jsmith, having that same name in AD, once I migrate, will the phone still be associated to jsmith, or is not that transparent ?

What about IP Phone services, or any other settings for that user ? Are they all gone ?

Thanks in advance.
