What is the image name of the IOS on the router? Router's IOS needs a plus feature set for this NM to be enabled.

More info at the following links:

Hope this helps

Router will need 12.1(2)T at minimum to support this card. Try loading 12.1(5)T9 and see if this helps.

Hi!,

What you have is E1 port that can be use to connect to the PSTN or PABX which has E1 port also. You can configure that E1 port as E1 R2. Aside from configuring the E1 port, you need also to know how to configure VoIP using E1 so that you can use your router as your voice gateway.

Aside from your 3640, what other Cisco component do you have? Do you have MCS, IP Phone and other voice gateways? At this point, I'm still not sure the system that you are going to implement. If possible, can you described the system that you are going to implement. From there, I can give you some possible configurations in your 3640 router.
