QOS - MLP with LLQ over ADSL (ATM)

Has anybody seen anything similar to this ?

A couple of 1751-v connected through a service provider VPN service with guarantees over bandwidth / latency / jitter ... ADSL connections (128 kbps

guaranteed both uplink and downlink).

IOS: 12.2.11T1....basic config with LLQ and MLP and cRTP ... fragment

delay set to 20 ms...

voice traffic seems to get through fine even with heavy traffic loads...but

there's a BIG problem with file/resource sharing with windows application

over the link... very very slow... often timeout.

The strange thing is that as soon as i change the L2 to plain PPP instead

of MLP, everything works fine (except for voice of course...)

any hints ??

The reason for the slow down or time out is that, MLP doesnt have enough inbound buffer space due to which there might be overflow of buffer which

may lead to loss of data. The workaround could be to increase the PPP timeout using the command, ' ppp timeout multilink lost-fragment ' . or as you have tried, you could just use plain PPP. For more details, please refer the following bugs : CSCdv80109 , CSCdv54156
