does anyone have experience using the 3550 and allowing recording of calls?
the 3550 doesn't allow bi-directional communication once the span is setup between the agents and the ICD server.
Any ideas would be of great assistance.....

You need to enable a second NIC on the ICD server if you are using a 3550. The link below will walk you through what to do to enable the second NIC on an existing system.

And since you said that you are running on a 7750, you are out of luck. There is no second NIC on the server blade. You will need to upgrade to a IPCC Express server or use a third-part package, like Eyretel's.

Of course but if he is worrying about call recording on the 3550 he probably has an external server...;) But if you have IPCC Express running on an SPE blade you will configure the fastethernet port on the backplane of the 7750 (which does support bi directional communication) so the 3550 will not come into play.

Take a look at Corvero Networks http://www.corvero.com/ You may have better luck with this than using the recording feature in ICD. Also, any call could be recorded, not just agents.

I have many sites with 7750's and ICD running on a blade and an external server with Recording and Monitoring working with no problems. No need to spend anymore money. Just configure the FE port on your MRP blade as the SPAN destination port and span the uplink port to your 3550.
