To all Voip guru:-

I have a client who has a SIP server, and they want to integrate it with my new CCM.server. I have the following questions and would appreciated any help.

1) Since my CCM is going to be installed, what's the point of integrating it with the exisitng SIP server?

2) What steps do I need to configure on the CCM so that I can integrate it with the SIP server? I have read some links on the CCO and came up with the following options:-

a) Setup a SIP trunk on the CCM side

b) Setup a H.323 trunk on the SIP server side

What are the pros / cons on each? And how to set them up?

Thanks,

Lee

1. CCM 4.x support SIP Trunk. This is where the CCM4.x send to call the SIP Server

2. a) Yes you need to this step.

b) No, you don't configure H.323 trunk at all.

Below is the step on CCM4.x side.

1. Open Call Manager Administration page

2. Select Devide->Trunk for the menu

3. Select the “Add a New Trunk” link from the upper right hand corner of the “Find and List Trunks” page.

4. Select “SIP Trunk” as the “Trunk type” and “SIP” as the “Device Protocol”. Click on the “Next” button.

5. Enter a name in the “Device Name”. Example : SIP Server

6. Enter a description in the “Description” field.

7. Select a device pool.

8. Enter the IP Address of the SIP Server in the “Destination Address” field.

9. Select “UDP” as the “Outgoing Transport Type”.

10. Modify any other settings as needed for the CCM installation

11. Click on the “Insert” button.

12. Add route pattern in the Call Manager that send calls to SIP Server using the SIP Trunk that you just created.

Then configure your SIP Server to accept the call from CCM side.

Thanks

Integrating with an existing server makes sense because CCM does not support SIP handsets yet.
