Some DMPs not showing as registered in DMM

I'm a newbie.  We have a DMM running 5.2.1 with around 7 DMPs (for now) also running 5.2.1.  Some of the DMPs show as registered & some do not & I can't figure out how to register them all.

I created an advanced task to discover one subnet & it did not find those unregistered DMPs.  In one instruction set I saw that you must have "Enable Cisco TAC Troubleshooting Access" ON & I did that.  After all reboots, the same devices are still not showing as "registered".  I may be missing something pretty simple, but any help is appreciated.

Anneka,

This type of symptom is typically related to the matching passwords

on the DMP & the DMM.

In the DMM under the Digital Signs Module, there is a setting under

the SETTINGS--> SERVER SETTINGS tab.  This is where you configure

your Servlet Server Address, DMP User Name, and DMP Password.

All DMPs must match this to Register.  Please verify that the problem

DMPs have this same User & Password configured.

Also, if this does NOT work.  Please provide a TEXT file with the results

of the STATUS advanced task for a REGISTERED DMP and a NON-REGISTERED

DMP.  This way we can verify and check your DMP configurations.

Also, that the DMPs in questions have their complete IP NETWORK settings like

default gateway and DNS values configured.

Cheers!

Hi T.  Yes I did think of that, but didn't attempt to modify til your post.  However, I wasn't sure where to modify the password for the DMPs... I assume it's under the "DMP Web Account" page for the DMP, right?  If so, I've done that, saved config & restarted.  Then ran the discovery job with no luck.

As far as posting a text file, I'm glad to do it, but I need to know where to find or how to generate the text file you mentioned.

BTW, the IP settings are all right.  I can access this server from any subnet.

I have another issue where scheduling a presentation for future play just will not work.  Could it be related?  I'm getting ready to submit a case to TAC & online forums here.

Ok, IP settings reference was for the DMPs not the DMM.

You are using FQDN for DMM server not IP address.

The Status MIB can be initiated from the DMM as an

ADVANCED TASK.  Go down to system task and simply

select STATUS (make sure a DMP is selected prior).

A separate window will pop up with the Status information.

Select all and copy paste into a text file.  Perform for a registered

DMP and non Registered DMP.

Also provide a screen capture of the DMP Manager on the DMM

that shows the registered & non registered DMPs.

Thanks

Tomas,

Here's what I've done today:  Installed a new DMP (so I have a test sitting at my desk rather than running around our campus for testing), got it in the DMM system, registered & it looks good (although sometimes it shows as offline even when it's online, but I found that may be a flaw in the firmware).  The firmware is at 5.1 & all other DMPs & DMMs are running 5.2.1.  I'm working on the firmware update thru DMM, however it's not working.  So I'm attempting it manually.  I've made sure that the new DMPs settings are set up exactly as the other DMPs in our environment (Centralized Mgnt, Mgnt Svcs for TAC & FTP  are set to ON, modified the TAC password, internal storage set to read-write, DMP web acct & service acct set appropriately).

I can't get the Status application to work as you stated.  I can see that the application exists when I look at the DMP-Adv Tasks, however when I go to Schedules-Play Now, select to run event type of Adv Tasks, there is no option to run that status app... it just doesn't even show up.  I'm guessing this may need to be run from the AAI, but I can't get logged in there either.

Anneka,

I am sorry if I confused you.  You do not have to use scheduler

to run the status mib.  You can run it right from the DMP Manager

screen by selecting the check box of a DMP and use the drop

menu to select status and then press Go.

OR

you can send the MIB directly to the DMP:

admin          = DMP Web Account Username

default        = DMP Web Account Password

a.b.c.d        = IP Address of DMP

https://admin:default@a.b.c.d:7777/get_param?p=*.*

Also, you can NOT upgrade the 5.1 DMP from a DMM

running 5.2.x.  You need to upgrade the DMP directly from the

DMP-DM (the DMP web interface).

Thanks

T.
