SQL 2000 vs MSDE

I have only 8 ports but have a requirement from Mgmt to use an Enterprise version of SQL2000 instead of the CD's that came with Unity. This is Unity 3.1.5 and will be used for Unified Messaging scenario with seperate exchange. Unity install guide shows that under 32 ports REQUIRES MSDE. Is this really true or can I use the seperate SQL 2000 as long as its on the same box.

Full SQL 2000 is fine there - Unity doesn't care here - it's just a licensing issue. If you're providing your own licensed copy of SQL 2000 and applying all the required service packs you're fine here.
