Hello,

I'm a young user of CallManager. I have some difficulties

I want to establish conferences between different regions that use different codecs (G711 and G729).

Within a region, I use G 711 ,and between two different regions (and for external call), I use G 729.

I know that I need a transcoder but witch type:

- a Cisco media Termination Point Hardware

- a Cisco IOS media Termination Point.

I use a VG 200 and CallManager 3.2

You can use either one of these transcoders. There are 3 platforms that support hardware transcoding right now. The ws-x6608 can do transcoding, but requires a 6500 chassis. The 4606-gwy has support for hardware transcoding and you need a cat 4003 or 4006. And the last is the dsp farm in the vg200. So if you want to use a vg200 with 3.2 that will be fine. Last I heard you can't use a vg200 as a voice gateway and transcoding resource. So if you have a t1 or something in your vg200 you will need another for transcoding and conferencing.
