Unity Connection 12.5(1) to 15.0 upgrade

I am planning on upgrading Unity Connection from 12.5(1) to 15.
Specifically from 12.5.1.19017-4 to 15.0.1.11900-14

I am thinking an in-place upgrade.
But first I need to increase the RAM.
Disk and CPU are ok.

Just wondering if any caveats I can expect?
I will run the pre-upgrade check (have not done that yet)

Thanks

Not on the specifics of what you asked about. Running the pre-check will give you more information. You should run that as soon as you can to find out if you need to do anything else than adding more RAM.

Hi Bill,
I know this is very late reply but for people visiting this blog, if you upgrade the hard drive on the OVA, the upgrade fails with the error

only way is to redeploy the OVA with correct hardware and use PCD or data migration or DRS to same version and then upgrade.

We ran into an issue with this upgrade - our LDAP password got corrupt - looks like there is a few bugs around this, if your password is 14 chars + or if the password has certain special characters.

If in doubt - update the password in advance of the upgrade.

Here is the procedure if you upgrade it and encounter the issue

Issue:

We were unable to login to the GUI (due to LDAP problem)  but we did have CLI access (doesn’t use AD)

The procedure we used to fix this was…

  • Reset the gui password using the CLI - Utils cuc reset password
  • login to the GUI
  • open services – restart the Cisco DIR Sync service
  • in Active Directory – reset the password to <14 characters
  • in ‘System settings’ / ‘LDAP authentication’  – update the password to that of above and test
  • in ‘System settings’ / ‘LDAP Directory configuration’ =- update the password and ‘perform full sync now’ (at the bottom of page)

This resynced LDAP and everything started working again
